How to get the Windshield Ready for Monsoon

Driving in the rain becomes difficult during monsoon, and since a car is essentially a machine with various mechanical and electrical parts, it also bears the brunt of rainfall. Protecting your car, especially the windshield, from rain damage, therefore, is absolutely necessary, and it all begins with getting it ready for monsoon.

A windshield is the primary barrier in a car that serves to protect the driver and the occupants from natural elements such as dust, dirt, wind, heat, water, etc. It is also extremely important for providing clear visibility to the driver on the road. Now, when you do a bit of research, you will find out that your Volkswagen Vento windshield price is a bit on the steeper side since it is of extremely immaculate construction and quality. Hence, if you don’t take proper care of it, especially in the rains, the windshield might get damaged and you will have to shell out a significant chunk to get the windshield repaired or replaced.

So, how do you get your Volkswagen Vento’s or any other car’s windshield ready for monsoon? Here’s the low down:

Pay special attention to the wiper blades

So, you have been using the same Volkswagen Polo wiper blades for the last few years ever since you bought the car? Well, while there is no doubt that a company such as Volkswagen uses excellent wiper blades, the nature of their functioning is such that they are bound to become inefficient and ineffective after a year of usage. This figure is lesser if you live in a region which suffers from frequent and heavy rainfall. The first step to get your windshield monsoon-ready, therefore, is to perform a quality check on the windshield wiper blades. It is highly recommended that you replace them before the start of every monsoon i.e. at least once every year. Also, invest in the best wiper blades that do not leave any streaks, and have adequate pressure and contact with the glass.

Apply water-repellent product on the windshield

Investing in a good water-repellent DIY coating product such as Rain-X is the second step towards augmenting your windshield’s protection against the rain. It is actually surprising that many people are unaware that such a product exists which is easy to apply on the windshield surface, provides a great barrier to rainwater, and is extremely long-lasting.

Clean the windshield thoroughly before heading out for a drive in the rain

We cannot stress enough on this point. If you want to avoid the hassle of windshield crack repair, then maintaining the windshield is an absolute must. Before application of water-proofing on the windshield, ensure that the surface is spotless and clean. Also, before heading out on the road, wipe the windshield clean of any dirt, grime and residue that might consolidate in the presence of rain and cause dangerous problems thanks to reduced visibility.
